Self-portraits, "Mystery in Art History" series, "Enduring Life" series, and some recent works will be on display. These paintings don't really hang well together, hence the title for the show of "Eye Sore". It also has to do with the retro of visions in styles and subject matter that brings the title of the show into clearer view.

There will be a fun drawing from the participation of guessing who is who in the Mystery in Art History collection. I'll also have prints of the Mystery in Art History series and several other series of works that are not hanging in the show.

I know that most will not be able to make the reception, but if you can it would be great!
Thanks,
Brad

The Season Is HERE!

Hello Everyone,

It feels great that the weather here is starting to change and the shows are coming together. Currently I'm displaying a body of work at the Ft. Walton Beach Library http://www.fwblibrary.blogspot.com/ . I'm offering this painting of Ft. Walton Beach in a silent auction at the Library, with the proceeds to go to the Library. So come by and make your bid and to view the show. It will be on display until April 30th.

The other painting that I've posted here is entered into a themed juried show "The Numbers Game" at the Artel Gallery in Pensacola. http://www.artelgallery.org/ I've recieved the Edgiest Award for this piece. The show runs through April 16th. The reception this friday the 19th from 6-8pm.

I've also entered two large paintings into the "Westward Ho" show at the Art Center in Ft. Walton Beach. http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/ On called "Squatter's Rights" the other "As Trouble Walks In". This is a great looking western themed show. The reception will be this friday the 19th from 5-7pm. So I'll be going to both the receptions for a brief visit at each.

I have a couple more solo shows coming up this spring and summer that I'll have more details on in the near future. If you would like to come see me I'll be displaying 5 days a week Wed.- Sun at Sawyer Art Gallery in HarborWalk Village on Destin Harbor.

Thanks for your support, Brad

Still going strong and on Facebook

Hello all, I know it's been awhile. Sorry for not being more regular here, I've been very busy. For the past year and a half I've been in Destin, Fl at Sawyer Art on HarborWalk Village. This is Sawyer Art kiosk on the cover of Destin Magazine and I'm there in the grass painting. Anyways, I've been working and displaying there all this time as well as doing juried shows along the Panhandle. I'm still painting en-plein air and doing commissions. I have to say, this has been the best year I've ever had. But it took a lot of work, full time work. I'm making a New Year's resolution of posting here more regularly this coming year. There's a lot going on and new things coming up next year that I'll post in the folling entry. For now, Happy Holidays all!!

The Painter's Keys

Happy Holidays to everyone!! Man, another year gone by, and I was just getting use to this year. I'm wishing the following year to be the best ever for all. All the shows for the year are over and the new year's schedule is upon us. With a new show at ADSO themed "Play that Funky Music" http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/ I'm ready with something that is yet again not my normal style of work.

The Via Colori 2007 Street Painting Festival was awesome!

I managed to produce two 24" x 36" gallery wrapped canvases plein-air that generated $1400.00 in the silent auction for their charity event. I was totally stoked watching

the bidding wars take shape. I posted the two images above.

I've posted a link in the header of this blog for The Painter's Keys http://painterskeys.com . This is a great website for artists. I recommend signing up for their twice weekly newsletter if you haven't already. Robert Genn is a great artist, awesome writer and a pioneer both in the world and online. Thanks Robert for all the support and information you share with us all.

This year I have finally decided, after nearly 40 years of creating, to learn alittle about Art History by reading about some of the Masters. I started out reading about Claude Monet, then Van Gogh and now Picasso. One thing that I'm learning is that I can relate to these guys. I feel their passions and understand their drive to create. I could have hung out with these artists like I do today with my group of fellow artist friends. I can't imagine reading about them without having the experience of being an artist first. The praises, the rejections, the trying times and the satisfaction of releasing the image in your mind, or in your vision onto canvas. There is no feeling like it. I know what they talking about, I understand. Here is a link to a website that I was made aware of recently that everyone needs to watch and listen to, this is awesome:

http://www.don-mclean.com/articles/vincent.asp click on the slideshow with Don Mclean soundtrack. There are several versions on the internet, well worth checking out.

The third image "Monet" is the start of a series of paintings I'm doing in watercolor on canvas of those Masters that I read about. The style is Cubist of the artist and of some of their work set in the background. I'm excited about this series and hope to be doing a show of them later next year.

I want to thank everyone for an awesome year and for being who you are. The journey wouldn't be the same without you all in it.

Brad

The Fall Season of Shows

Many shows this Fall season has left me falling behind in my posts. I'm currently in two shows both put on by (ADSO) The Arts & Design Society of Fort Walton Beach.
http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/ The En-Plein Air show at the gallery
Oct. 26- Nov 10th and the 24th Northwest Florida Fair Fine Art Show Nov. 2-10. I recieved a third place award for the Plein Air scratchboard posted here. I also recieved a 2nd place award for the other image above at the Fair show. So get out and see these shows before they are over.

This Sat. & Sun. Nov. 10th and 11th from 10am-4pm I'll be at Seaside, Florida for thier 11th Annual Italian Street Painting Festival "Via Colori" http://www.sowal.com/photos-100205.html It is going to be Awesome!! I had to be a part of this charitable event.

As some of you might know, I am the Luncheon Committee Chairperson for (ADSO) which means I set up the monthly Luncheons and line up the guest speakers, etc... Over the past couple years I've brought in many wonderful artists and art related businesses to the group. This month I will be bringing in Paul Lombardo of DoveTails Art & Frame http://www.dovetailsartandframe.com/ of Navarre. Paul and his wife Tina have been promoting a featured artist a month in their gallery along with live music and wine tasting. Bringing Art Culture to this small Emerald Coast Community. They have a new show hung now and the reception will be this Friday evening Nov 9th from 6-8pm. So if you are in the area come on by. The Luncheon this month will be in the evening at the (ADSO) Gallery as a pot luck dinner. I'll post times and dates later but it's looking like it will be on the Friday Nov 30th @5pm~.

The 2007 Navarre Beach Fall Festival of the Arts turned out great!! It's estimated that we had 12,000-15,000 patrons pass through the festival that weekend. We also had an art competition called "Paint Santa Rosa" in which we went out to 3 locations and painted previous to the festival and then entered our work for awards. The show is now hanging in the Dragonfly Gallery in Milton, Florida until the 10th of Nov. One of the locations was at the Santa Rosa Zoo.
http://www.thezoonorthwestflorida.org/ That was an experience I would like to try again. I didn't realize just how many species they have on display there, unbelievable!! Check out thier site.

Well as you all know I can talk about art and art related stuff forever, so I'll stop for now. Coming up I'll talk about some educational reading I've been doing to increase my art history. I'm finally getting started after about 40 years of painting LOL.

Thanks for all your support for the Arts.
Brad

Still Going Strong

Hello All!!

I wanted to send out this post to let everyone know that I'm still here and still going strong!

I've had the worst luck with computers this year it seems. With hard drives crashing and power supplies going bad and oh yeah...the processor stopped working. I was able to save my files but I've yet to get a system up and running to download all my website files to. So my site hasn't been updated since March of this year. I will be working on that soon.

I've been busy doing the themed juried shows, festivals and plein-air painting. I have several shows coming up in Oct. that I'll post information about soon. I've also found some great locations to promote and sell your work. One being Geronimo's Outpost on Pensacola Beach, a marketplace for Gulf Coast merchants & artists. They feature an artist demonstration every Sunday afternoon from 4-7pm. I'll be demonstrating this Sunday the 30thof Sept. during their Grand Opening. So come on by if you are in the area. Also I've found a great gift idea for artists. And that is using their artwork image on wine labels. "Something Vino" http://www.somethingvino.com/ is the winery that can do just that...use your images as the wine labels!!! This is an awesome way to promote your work while sharing a fine wine with your friends. So definately check this out!

I will have more info in the near future about up and coming shows. Thanks for your support. This Friday afternoon the 26th, I, along with stain-glass artist Wanda Veal http://www.docksideglass.com will be displaying at the Art Shack in Navarre, Fl. Details are on the link in the header. These two images are examples of the style of work I will be displaying. These are plein-air (painting outdoors) paintings where I've been using a looser style of pallet knife, rags and a water spray bottle. So if you are in the area come check us out! Also I would like to announce that you can now take classes at the Art Shack, so look at the class schedule on their website.

The Arts & Design Society (ADSO) http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/ Has several shows coming up and on going now with the show "Color Effects" in their Gallery. Go to their website for the show listings to enter or when to come out to show your support and see the shows. I'm busy working on pieces for these up & coming shows.

Over the past weekend I attended 3 Gallery Receptions, the Artel Gallery http://www.artelgallery.org : a Themed juried show about Illumination, I was showing support as my pieces didn't make it into the show. It is a great show!

The Barbella's Studio & Gallery http://www.barbellasgallery.com , with featured artist Valerie Aune http://www.valerieaune.com/ displaying in the Main room and Hall. Awesome Pensacola artist!! I had to to have one of her prints so I purchased one.

and a Grand-opening of the newest gallery "Gallery 331" (contact info is on my Dealers page of my website at: http://artbybradgreek.com/Dealers.html ). This Gallery has a collection of some of the top artists of the area, a wonderful selection. The Grand-opening was packed with artists and supporters. Several pieces sold and everyone had a great time! Gallery owner, Paulette Morrison, really knows how to put on a show! Also she featured her son Brandon Morrison, an Atlanta artist and musician. You can view his work both from his band "Moresight" http://www.Moresight.net/ with a link to his Myspace site under "IBlet" A sample of his work is on their CD cover. I spent alot of time sharing thoughts with him about the business. His music is also great!

As you can tell, things are going strong and I'm in the midst of it. I appreciate all of your support, Thank You. Five of us Plein-air Painters are showing there until Dec. 8th. We had a reception on the 21st of Nov. and had a Paint-out while there. It was a great day for painting Bonifay!

Yesterday I entered a painting into the Pensacola JazzFest 2007 poster competition and another painting into the Arts Council of Northwest Florida http://www.artsnwfl.org poster competition. So we will see how that goes, the competition is always very tough with all the great artists here entering.

Announcement: The Collector's Art Club that I mentioned in my last entry has had to regretably shut down. They had published a 500 limited edition Lithograph of my image "Idle Time" http://artbybradgreek.com/NewReleases.html for the Collector's Club.
The project just didn't draw enough attention to continue, so the owner of the Club had to make this tough decision. They were gracious enough to let me continue with my edition since it had already started. So I still have the prints on hand to offer. Sorry for the confussion if there was any.

On Nov. 17th in Pensacola was Gallery Night. As a participating patron and showing in one of Pensacola's fine art galleries, Barbella's. I was asked to set up and do a demonstration during the event. With dark coming on earlier in the evening, I knew I would be pushing the envelope with a night time plein-air painting. I arrived early to capture the first image at sunset. By the time I started the second painting it was totally dark. I had very little light coming from a near by porch light, but most of my work and pallet was in total darkness. With my pallet knife and who knows how much paint, I started pileing it on. Not able to judge the colors I was mixing or how thick I was applying the paint. I posted the images above so that you can see the results. I may have to try this again LOL.

On Dec. 8th there will be another reception at Barbella's http://www.barbellasgallery.com . I will be in attendance for support and to meet patrons and fellow artists. Who knows, I might even slap alittle paint on a canvas.

There are several shows coming up soon and alot more that has just passed. I've been very busy trying to stay involved in everything, supporting causes and other artists, painting and managing the properties I take care of.

Thanks for all of your support and again...Happy Holidays!!!

Brad

Greater Navarre Beach Arts Association Art Festival

I know it's been awhile, computers crashing, family members across country having medical problems and a ton of other things going on all summer. Hopefully all that is over and I can get back on track with keeping my site updated and this blog going on regular entries.

First I would like to introduce you to a new Art organization that just started up in Navarre, Fl.
The Greater Navarre Beach Arts Association (GNBAA). http://www.gnbaa.org/
We are sponcering our first Arts & Craft Festival on Navarre Beach from Oct 13-15th, 2006. Visit the website for more details about the Festival and the Organization. It is also part of the Santa Rosa County's Beaches to Woodland Tour
http://www.beaches-rivers.com/ . I will be on location with a booth, set up to paint the festivities. Hope to see you out there.

I've been painting and showing on a regular schedule all year long, that hasn't slowed down any. I'm currently showing at the Arts & Design Society (ADSO) in Ft. WaltonBeach , Florida http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/ , Barbella's Studio Gallery in Pensacola, Fl. http://www.barbellasgallery.com/ , the Dragonfly Gallery in Milton, Fl., Art & Frame in Navarre, Fl. and the Fostoria Art & Frame Gallery http://www.dressyourart.com/HomePage.html in Fostoria, Ohio, (My home town). I have scheduled to do a Solo Show in the spring at The Fostoria Art & Frame. Jo Faeth, owner of the gallery has a great knowledge of the art business. I'm excited to work with her and to show my work in my home town.

I've been working on some new styles of plein-air paintings (painting on location, outside). Using the palette knife mostly and rags to blot in colors, shapes and backgrounds. I will be doing a short class for the " You Gotta Have Art" program, on Nov. 4th at the ADSO workshop from 9-12 and 1-4. So if you are in the area, sign up for that, it should be fun!

I also had an image published through the Collector's Art Club based in Ft. Walton Beach, Fl.
http://www.collectorsartclub.com/page/page/3280641.htm So check this out, it has a pretty cool concept.

Alot of shows still to come this year, so I'll keep you posted on those in the next entry. Thanx again for your patience and support.

Brad

Shows! I managed to grab a 3rd place ribbon for the "Ninth Green" painting at the Beaux Art Exhibit.

The Studio Tour and Nature's Glory show was a very great time. I find that seeing the studios of other artists makes you realize that you are not alone. We all have our own "space" that the work is created. I managed to get a small plein-air painting in during the tour, as a demonstration.

This weekend (March 4th and 5th)the Santa Rosa Mall in Mary Esther is hosting a show for us. I will have 3 pieces in this show. Here is a link to the Arts & Design Society for a list of show coming up. http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/

I entered a show into a new gallery (The Barbella Gallery) in Pensacola with a new show every 6 weeks.

It's been about 8 years since I've taken any kind of class or workshop, well this past week I made an exception. It was an Alla Prima workshop with Linda Blondhiem, a plein-air painter known around the southeast region. She instructed us with many exciting exercises including some 15 minute studies (which I posted several of mine above). She is an awesome instructor with a library of knowledge in both art and marketing art. A must do workshop if you get the oppertunity. Here is a link to her site: http://www.lindablondheim.com

I had some of my work photographed by Dan Murray, Pensacola photographer who specializes in photographing artwork. For slides, photos, and digital files created from the slide film. Dan comes to your studio or you can go to him. Here is his number (850) 455-6339.

Well I've entered the Arts Quest & Billy Bowlegs Poster contest without any results. Yesterday I entered three pieces for the "Life's a Beach" magazine cover contest. We will see how that goes, and yes I did enter a Tiki Painting as one of the entries. LOL

I'm announcing now that I will be checking into a trademark name for my Tiki paintings of "Greeki Tikis". Any thoughts on this, please comment.

Well until next time, keep creating and supporting the arts.

Brad

<link rel='related' href='http://www.artsdesignsociety.com' title='Shows! I entered three pieces into the show today. The show runs Friday- Sunday with the reception on Sunday the 5th from 2-4pm.

I will be participating in several shows this month. Most of the details are on the site of the Arts & Design Society (ADSO). I will also be attending the Alla Prima painting Workshop this month with Linda Blondheim. It will be the first workshop I've taken in many years. I'm pretty excited about that. It will be useful for my plein-air painting.

This year I am in charge of getting guest speakers for the ADSO monthly Luncheons. In Jan. I was introduced to this talented artist, Alan Lin, from China and also studying and teaching in the U.S. Here is a link to his work, which is worth taking time to view. http://www.xlinart.com/
This month I'l have Dan Murray speaking and demonstrating the art of photographing artwork. So if you have questions about this subject, you might want to attend this months luncheon. Details are on the ADSO site.

This week I entered a painting for the ArtsQuest Poster Contest at the Cultural Arts Association in Walton County. I have been doing a whimsical style of Tiki paintings lately and have been using that theme for the poster competitions. As of yet I haven't had a winning entry, but they are still fun to look at and to create. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this competition. I'm also doing a Billy Bowlegs Poster....so put an eye out....er.... keep an eye out for that painting LOL. I'll have another gallery on my website soon with the Tiki's.

Saturday I am going to be assisting Chuck Porretto at the Art & Frame in Navarre, Florida set up a display of my work. He has graciously made an area in his front lobby for me to exhibit.
So stop in if you are in the area and view some new work and possibly get in on some good deals.
Chuck's information is located on my dealers page at: http://artbybradgreek.com/Dealers.html

I'm also very excited to announce the support of Ron Kensey at Bella Graphics in Sheridan, Wy. with his Fabric panels. He has selected some of my images to create fabric panels for another company that he has partnered with for this project. Here is a link to some of the artists works that he has selected for this project. http://www.belladisplay.com/Pella.html

Well as you can see there is alot going on. Created by Ron Kensey of the Artist Printshop in Sheridan,Wy.
http://www.artistprintshop.com/

This poster is printed on foam core and ready for framing. The image is from a Plein-air painting I did along the Gulf of Mexico. "The Shining" is the title I gave the image, depicting both the morning sun on the water as well as the symbolic meaning of a new direction or new horizon, shining brightly.

Details about the poster can be seen on my website at: http://artbybradgreek.com/shining.html .

I have several shows coming up, with an entry going in today at the Arts & Design Society (ADSO) http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/ "Fantasy in Abstract" . This past year I suspended the event due to the Tsunami. So hopefully the world won't be stressed by tragedy this year.

I have alot of plans and have set alot of goals for this year, so with your support I believe we can accomplish most of them. I'll keep you posted of the details as they grow nearer. To start with there is the Sale-a-bration going on at the Arts & Design Society's Gallery. (ADSO)http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/ . Nov. 16th-Dec.18th. There is a variety of work by many local artists that are all under $200.00. So come out and do some holiday shopping. Also on Dec. 11th the ADSO Christmas Party and Open House with a live auction will be held at the Gallery. Hours are from 1-4pm. Last year I was assisting in the auction and we had a great time.

Currently I have been asked by ADSO to hang some of my originals in the Tax Office in Ft. Walton Beach. So I have 20 pieces lining the walls there and they will be on display for the next several months. So that is a solo show worth looking forward to, even if going to the tax office isn't LOL.

I hung 4 paintings at the Rocky Bayou Country Club (Niceville, FL.) during their Wine tasting event Saturday Night. The work was from plein-air paintings that our group from the Emerald Coast Plein-air Painters Group http://pleinairflorida.org/ecpap.htm did on location at the Country Club. I had one buyer during the event and the responces about our work was incredible.

On Nov. 18th, the Pensacola's "Gallery Night" event will kick off at 5pm. I'll be at the Imago Gallery promoting my Serenity Series as well as handing out the Artist of the Emerald Coast magazine to the patrons. So come out, see some great artwork, meet some great artists in the area and have some fun!

I met a Caricature artist at the Imago Gallery Grand Re-opening on the 28th of Oct.
Brandon Delles is a New Orleans artist that is known for his work in the Jackson Square, New Orleans. He was at the Super Dome during Katrina and has since relocated to the Pensacola area. I've attached his work here that he did of me during that event. I'll be adding a page to my website of his work and contact information to help support his needs during these trying times.

On November 20th (12-5pm) I'll be on location at the Park Place Plaza Open House event, as the featured artist. Bill Gailey of Creative Awards http://www.creativeawards.us/ will be debuting his framing skills and has asked me to showcase his work with my work. I was honored that he appreciates my work to use it as the foundation for his campaign. There will also be a drawing for a framed print of our work at the Open House. Many shops are involved in the plaza with many discounts and giveaways, including Color Reproductions http://artbybradgreek.com/giclee.html where I have all of my work done for the Giclee prints.
So I'll have originals and prints at this affair, I might even do a plein-air painting while I'm there. Park Place Plaza is located on Page Bacon Rd. Next to the Santa Rosa Mall, Mary Esther, Fl.

Btw...The Chair Affair Auction and Gala last Saturday night was awesome! A 70's theme with a DJ, Dance floor and Disco Ball, it sure brought back some memories LOL. Some of the chairs went as high as $3500.00 for this charity event. Hopefully I'll see you there next year.

Thank you again for coming along on my journey, get out there, support your local artists and I'll see you real soon.

Brad

The Chair Affair Auction and Gala is upon us!

There is alot of things going on this month and into November. I'll start with the furthest out first. The Chair Affair Auction and Gala http://www.thechairaffair.com/sponsor.html will be Nov. 5th from 7-11pm in Seaside. I'll be attending to see my chairs get auctioned off along with all the other great looking chairs that have been on display all summer. It is an event worth attending, so I hope to see you there.

The NW Florida Fair show is going on right now in Ft. Walton Beach. I entered 5 pieces into the show. There are @81 artists showing over 240 pieces of artwork. It's a show worth going out to see. I wasn't an award winner in this show, but the reception was well attended and the food was great.

I entered 2 pieces in to the Cinco Banderas show at the Artel Gallery in Pensacola for jury selection. Well today I had to retrieve my work, for it didn't make the cut. It is a very interesting show, with the reception on the 28th from 6-8pm.

Tomorrow night, (Oct. 28th from 5pm-til..) is also the Grand Re-Opening of the Imago Gallery, at their new location. Directions are as followed: Take Palafox south to Intendencia, take a right to Baylon. Look for the Red Lights straight ahead on the left. I'll be there to celebrate the new gallery location and to promote my 4 panel painting "The Serenity Series". Paul Jackson is the featured artist for the night along with works from 35 other artists.

On Saturday the 29th, I'll be heading out the Henderson Beach State Park in Destin for the Mattie Kelly Foundation Art Festival. I have several friends showing in this event, so I'll be out to support them.

This week the Artists of the Emerald Coast Magazine http://artistsoftheusa.com/emcoast/ has been released. I'm going to be working with the publisher with distribution of the magazine in the area as well as promoting it for the 2nd edition. If you have any questions, please contact Tammy Kevwitch or myself. The Magazine looks great!

Last saturday evening I set up on Navarre Beach at the Cocadries Restaurant for the Beaches to Woodland Tour's Art Night Event. http://www.beaches-rivers.com/b2w.php3
I set up with some originals, giclee prints as well as I debuted a new set of paintings that I've been working on. I wanted to get a responce about this new style of work I've been working on. Well, they all sold immediately, which was really exciting. So I'm working on more of these fun and exciting pieces. I also set up and done a small plein-air painting of the sunset while I was out there. I met alot of great people and some amazing artists as well. We may be doing more of these events in the future. Chad, the owner of Cocadries, was very pleased with the turn out and was a great host.

I also set up for the first event of the Beaches to Woodland Tour on the 1st of Oct. at the Dragonfly Gallery in Milton, Florida. I did a plein-air painting of the gallery, but then took it a step further, in the studio, and embellished it with dragonflies. Here is a view of it at the top, I'm not sure how it will be recieved. Let me know what you think.

Well that's about all that's been going on with me this past month and what I have coming up. Remember, being an artist isn't just about creating, it's about participating and supporting all aspects of the arts.

Thank you for coming along with me in this journey.

Brad Greek

Beaches to Woodland Tour is here!

Hello Everyone,

Wow! It is a very busy time of year for the marketing artist. October is full of art related events, shows and festivals. I will be participating in a few of them myself.

One October 1st, 2005 the Beaches to Woodland Tour begins! http://www.beaches-rivers.com/b2w.php3. The schedule of events is posted on their website, so if you are in the area this month, try to make it out to a few of them. I recently joined the Santa Rosa Arts & Culture Foundation ( http://santarosaarts.org/ ) and entered several paintings into their gallery in Milton, Florida. The Dragonfly Gallery is a newly open Gallery and will have an updated website in the near future. On Saturday I will set up and plein-air paint outside the Gallery during the kick off of the Beaches to Woodlands Tour. There will be other artists set up on location showing and selling their work this weekend. So come out and check us out!

On the 22nd I will be set up on Navarre Beach, at Cocodries, for the Art Night Event of the Tour. I may be painting or just talking to other artists and patrons that come out to meet the artists. So be sure to come to Cocodries on Navarre Beach for Art Night. Eco- Beach Store http://www.eco-beach.com/ will be hosting the event. Plenty of food, music and artwork will be on hand.

The 23rd N.W. Florida Fair Fine Art Show http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/ will begin on the 21st of Oct. - 29th. I will be entering 5 plein-air paintings into this juried show. So come out and enjoy the show then go and enjoy the Fair. I have 4 of the paintings at the printshop getting prints made right now. So the originals will be for sale at the show.

The Serenity Series http://artbybradgreek.com/thrive.html is now hanging in the Imago Gallery in Pensacola, Fl. at their new location downtown. The new address is 103 W. Intendencia St. , Pensacola. Phone: (850) 433-4115. They will have an open house on Friday the 7th of Oct. or possibly the following Friday....schedule to be announced yet. I will be there for the Grand Reopening.

Announcement: I'm releasing 4 images to help raise money for a charity to rebuild our local beaches in Navarre, Fl. They have been devastated by Hurricane Ivan last year. Before getting the Beaches back to standards they have been again hit by Hurricanes Dennis, Katrina and Rita. Along with some damages from Tropical Storm Arlene. I'm releasing the limited edition sets of 50 each, Signed and Numbered Giclee Reproduction Prints. All proceeds will help get our beaches built back up and our community thriving again. For over a year now it has been like a war zone and the waters are full of debri. I will announce all the details for the release and the charity information when I get it all put together. We sort of been forgotten about over here with all the devastation along the rest of the Gulf Coast. (The 4 images at the top of this post are for the fundraiser).

Well I have been getting out every week plein-air painting, trying out new technics and color schemes. The International Plein-air Paintout http://www.ipap.homestead.com/paintout.html was a great time at Ruskin Place, Seaside, Fl. I was able to get 4 paintings during the 2 day event.

I will keep everyone updated on other events as they draw near.

Thank you for all of your support,

Brad

Plein Air Paint Out

Hello and welcome,

Next month there will be an international plein air painters' paintout around the world. http://ipap.homestead.com/About_Us.html The Emerald Coast Plein Air Painters Group http://pleinairflorida.org/ecpap.htm will be participating and will be on location at Seaside, Fl. Adams Gallery in Ruskin Place in Seaside. My goal is to get 2-5 paintings of the Seaside community completed that weekend.

Since our last visit our group have been getting out to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park (Sandestin), Henderson Beach State Park (Destin), The Landing (Ft. Walton Beach) and the Shoal River Country Club (Crestview)areas. The weather has been hot, sometimes rainy, but we still managed to capture great paintings! Good job everyone!

Lat year the Santa Rosa County was in the process of doing a county wide event "Beaches to Woodland Tour" with all sorts of activities and art events. Hurricane Ivan caused it to be canceled, so they will try again this year to lauch this event off the ground. This will kick off in October and last most of the month with several art night events each weekend. I'll post more detail as the time grows closer.

Last week I visited with Gallery owners Richard and Shelly Arriaga of ArriagaOriginals and the Wild Woman Gallery http://www.arriagaoriginals.com/. They were excited about the plein air paintings I was creating and offered to represent my work in their gallery. I delivered several pieces of my work to them the following day and will be rotating work in and out of the gallery on a regular basis. So get out and visit their gallery and meet some of the nicest people in the business!! We also talked about setting up my Serenity Series Paintings ( http://artbybradgreek.com/thrive.html )for the tour in the near future.

The 23rd Northwest Florida Fair Fine Arts Show sponcered by the Arts & Design Society (ADSO) of Ft. Walton Bch. http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/ is just around the corner. Oct. 21st- 29th, 2005. So you will have plenty of time to get prepared for this show.

Recently I met a local artist Akeem Wayne Scott http://www.akeemwayne.com of Niceville who informed me of the Destin Festival of the Arts at Henderson Beach State Park on Oct. 29-30, 5005. He will be displaying in the show with his work. I will be checking into the competition for more detail, who knows, I might even enter it. Thanx Akeem for the info.

I am also invited to demonstrate for the Cultural Arts Association's (CAA) http://www.culturalartsassociation.org/ monthly meeting on Sept. 13th with other plein air painters. We will be displaying our work from the paintout the week before. This will also give me a chance to meet some of the members as I recently became a member.

Today I delivered my version of a painting that Tammy Kevwitch, Publisher of the Artist of the Emerald Coast Magazine http://www.artistsoftheusa.com/emcoast/ had ask me to put my own touches to. This is a project that she is trying out to see what kind of outcome would come of it from different artists. Then she will be producing giclee prints of the different versions to market in the Yellowstone County, Montana area. The Artist of the Emerald Coast Magazine is coming along nicely and is due for publication in Oct. 2005. I can't waite to see it!!

Well I have a few paintings to work on and more planning to do, Thank you for following along with me in my quest as an artist.

Brad

Local Flavor

Hello everyone,

It's great to be back in action, after Hurricane Dennis's direct hit of our area, I'm getting things back in order. Some things were canceled or postponed, and some remained the same. The Arts and Design Society's member show "Local Flavor" went on as scheduled. I entered 3 pieces into the show, with one "The Islander" being selected as one of the images that will be used for a 2006 Calander. These calanders will probably go on sell to raise monies for their projects that are in the works. Like the cistern project, converting the cistern behind the gallery into a workshop, gallery and storage space for the Society's needs. So I'll let everyone know when they come available. So go and visit the gallery to see this show before Sunday the 31st of July.

I am also working with Tammy Kevwitch of Emerald Coast Multimedia Group http://www.emcoastmedia.com/default.asp who is publishing a magazine to showcase local artists and ads for local businesses. Here is a link to what she has put together so far: http://artistsoftheusa.com/emcoast/ .

The Imago Gallery is moving it's location, so the underwater show is a wash. They are moving into the center of Pensacola's downtown district that is more suited for access. The Gallery Night Events are also centered more for that area. So it is a win/win situation for both the Gallery and the art community. They are planning to have a new open house when they get settled into the new location.

I am having to regroup on my tour of the Serenity Series paintings, the Hurricane set me back a few weeks. I will post updates when I get the details of dates and locations that the tour will be in. I will also update my website page of the new information. Thank you for your patience.

After several weeks of being rained out and hurricanes the Emerald Coast Plein Air Painters Group is back in action. We went out to Henderson Beach State Park, Destin, Fl. on the 20th and was able to capture some beautiful cloud formations over the Gulf of Mexico. Next week we will be gathering at the Landing in Ft. Walton Beach, Fl. So if you are in the area, stop by and visit us and take a few minutes to enjoy the awesome view from that location. We will be there at 8:30-11:00am on the 27th of July.

I would like to thank everyone for you support of the arts and for taking the time to follow my journey as an artist.

Brad

The Variety Show

Hello and welcome to the Variety Show!

I would like to invite each and everyone of you to stop by the Arts & Design Society to view the Variety Show. I have debuted the Serenity Series http://artbybradgreek.com/thrive.html original oil paintings along with many plein-air paintings. So try and stop in to see the show before we take it down on the 26th. There is alot there for your veiwing pleasure. Tropical storm Arlene tried to dampen the spirits last Friday night's reception, but it failed. We had a very good turn out and I had a chance to meet some really great people. Everyone seemed to enjoy the show very much.
I will be touring the Serenity Series around the local area for the following 2 months, so keep your eyes peeled for announcements of locations.

I made it down to Delray Beach, Florida last week for the reception at the Cornell Museum http://www.oldschool.org/index.html. I spent one night there at the Colony Motel and Cabana Club and the following day with a chance to visit many Art Galleries in the area. This is a gallery rich enviroment and the scenery is awesome! I had a chance to set up and plein-air paint a scene but the elements were against me. I wasn't distracted by the over cast morning or the excessive winds, it was when I broke my canvas that caused me to pack it in. I will salvage the painting one of these days.

I've been updating my website some with new links, plein-air images and the Serenity Series print order discount information. I have posted new print releases on my site at:
http://artbybradgreek.com/NewReleases.html . These are all plein-air paintings as well.
I thought I would please those that enjoy the Military style art form.

I have picked up the canvases to start my next series of 4 panel paintings. I'm thinking of going with a swamp scene or possibly another beach style scene with an abundance of Royal Palms in them.

I'm also designing some rough drafts for an up and coming show at the Imago Gallery in Pensacola next month. The theme is it's an under water show. The artwork will be submerged in large fish tanks. So this will be fun to be a part of.

Well that's about all that I have going on for now, other then massive amount of painting of course LOL.

Brad

Back to Back Shows

Hello Everyone!

Since my last newsletter alot has taken place, from completing the 3 chairs for the Chair Affair Event in Seaside, Fl. , sending in my entry to the "Arts For The Parks" national competition, Entering slides for the Artist Magazine competition, Attending Show receptions, and Plein air painting.

I have also finished my "Serentity Series" http://artbybradgreek.com/Events.html (4 part painting for Thrive in '05 project) and will be getting them framed and ready to debut in the "Variety Show" at the Arts & Design Society Gallery @ 17 1st St., Ft. As well as meeting some great artists, which I have added some links to my website to their sites, so check that out as well. I also received an application to join the Cultural Arts Association http://www.culturalartsassociation.org/ that sponcers Art Quest. So that maybe next year I will be apart of that great oppertunity to display during the area's largest art venue. I had an awesome time at the Champagne Shopping Tour on the 5th of May.

Commissions isn't something that I do too often but this month as brought several to my pallet. One of the Home place of a fellow artist that wanted something special to remember their home before they sell it. So I set up on location for two sittings and captured her home on canvas. And I have a special request for a Fantasy painting of faeries and dragonflies for a friends grandaughter. So I'll be working on that next.

I have been invited to show at the Ballet Studio in Ft. Walton Beach for the Okaloosa County Art alliance Show on the 21st and 22nd. It will be a chance for the several art groups in the area to converse and share what we are all doing.

I also have several other competitions on the way that I will give out details to when the time draws nearer.

The Emerald Plein Air Painters Group has been meeting on Wed. mornings all over the area, from the Landing in Ft. Walton Bch. to the Air Force Armament Museum. Yes I was able to get all the Ladies out there to paint Planes....It might be awhile before they will go back LOL.

I have alot of new prints coming available soon, I have had 9 paintings scanned in the past couple weeks for the Giclee prints. I'll let you know when I get them posted.

I enjoy sharing my ventures with you, I hope that you are enjoying them as well! Feel free to share this with your friends as well and I can add them to my list.

Until next time...have a wonderful time and stop and talk to an artist when you see one.

Brad Greek

Projects nearing completion

Hello everyone,

I'm here to tell you that this has been a very active month. I am almost finished with my second chair for the Chair Affair http://www.thechairaffair.com/. And nearing completion of the Serenity Series http://artbybradgreek.com/thrive.html , For the Thrive in '05 project. I have been out lining up locations to tour this set of paintings for viewing and to get pre- orders for the canvas giclee prints.

I have been working on press releases for an up and coming show that I'll be in called the "Variety Show". This is a 3 artist show at the Arts & Design Society in Ft. Walton Beach http://www.artsdesignsociety.com/. The show will be from June 8th-26th, with a reception on the 10th of June from 5:00-7:00pm. I will be Debuting the "Serentity Series" paintings at this show. I'm hoping to pack the house with friends and associates, so please try to make this show if at all possible. This will be my first trio artist show....so I hope to see you there.

The Outside Art Fair in Pensacola was a very good experience for me. I was set up in a public park for 2 days, I met alot of great people that showed alot of interest in my work. Some of you are here now because you took the time to sign my guest book and I appreciate all of your support, Thank You. I sold several prints and had a chance to set up and paint an old victorian style house across the street from my booth. Come to find out from one patron that grew up in the area....this house is suppose to be haunted....calling it " The Ghost House". So that is pretty cool. Only I can pick the haunted ones LOL.

I have been setting up at the Gulf Island National Seashore (Naval Live Oaks Area) in Gulf Breeze http://www.nps.gov/guis/pphtml/facilities.html , trying to capture a plein air painting for entry into the Arts for the Parks national art competition http://www.artsfortheparks.com/.

Two weeks ago I set up at Baytowne Wharf and did a painting of the marina area. Which had the "Blackbeard II" pirate ship docked at the very end of the pier. The owner of the ship, Captain Joe MacKenzie, introduced himself and wants to see the painting when I finish it and to get together for future projects. I've finished the painting and now am scheduling a time to meet back up with the Captain.

On May 5th I will be set up at the Arriaga Originals and Wild Women Art Gallery http://www.arriagaoriginals.com/ From 4-8 pm. This is part of the Arts Quest's Champagne Shopping Tour http://www.culturalartsassociation.org/aqdetailsnew.html. I will have originals and prints as well as set up painting into the sunset.

I placed 3 paintings in the Arts & Design Society's "Out to Lunch" show, now hanging in the gallery. The reception will be on May 13th in conjunction with the Artist Studio Tour. I will be set up painting on location at the gallery during this event. 5-8pm Friday evening.

I sent in 3 slides to the Artist's Magazine Competition today.
I'll be picking up my painting "Standing Guard" from the frame shop next week and delivering it to the Arts Center Galleries at the Okaloosa-Walton College for the 13th SE Regional Juried Fine Art Exhibition. The reception will be on May 15th, 2-4 pm. The exhibition is from May 16th - June 9th.

Well I've been pretty busy to say the least, but enjoying every minute of it. I hope our paths cross within the following month.

Brad

Up and Coming Events

Hello patrons,

It's been a very active week with alot of developing events. I will return to capture more paintings of this piece of our history. What a Sight!!

I have been working on my website... doing a major overhaul on it's design. The link here is to a private screening of the project I'm working on for Thrive in '05. I completed the proto-type and now I'm working on the larger canvases for the final paintings. So check that out and feedbacks are welcome.

I've been doing alot of marketing lately and have placed prints in two new locations. I placed a variety of prints at Artful Things http://www.artfulthings.net in Niceville, Fl. and some seascape prints at Arriaga Original and the Wild Women Gallery in Blue Mountain Bch., Fl.
http://www.arriagaoriginals.com

There was a Grand Re-opening of The Eco-Beach Store on Navarre beach, Navarre, Fl.
http://www.eco-beach.com . They have been closed since Hurricane Ivan struck back in September. This is a very good place to visit if you are ever in the area, for all your vacationing needs. Not to mention they carry over 50 local artist's work in their store.

I've been plein-air painting again at Turkey Creek, Niceville, and the Landing in Ft. Walton Beach. Which I've had the Turkey Creek paintings scanned for prints, so they will be available soon. Also I went by the Air Force Museum to get permission to paint on location at the Air Park, which is full of Fighters, Bombers and vintage aircraft. I'm excited to get out there to paint!

I've submitted slides to several up and coming shows, so I'm hoping the best for those.

I also completed the Fantasy painting for the Imago Gallery show coming up on the 18th of March. The reception starts at 5:00 pm Central time and is during Gallery Night in Pensacola. Where all the galleries in town are open late for the public to tour and meet the artists. So this is also exciting. I have two pieces entered for this juried show.

I'll post again this weekend with alot of new events and shows that are also coming up.

Brad Greek

The Chair Affair

This is one of my latest adventures that I will be participating in. It is a local event with many rewards for the selected chairs. This will be my first year of entering so wish me luck. I have my designs drawn up and ready to summit.

I finished up my second Indian Temple Mound plein-air painting on Monday. Our group met at
Turkey Creek http://www.cityofniceville.org/turkey.html in Niceville, Fl. I was able to capture yet anough surreal moment in time along the creek's meandering water through the remenance of trees old and new. I could have stayed there all day. We will be heading back out to this location again next week, weather permitting.

I carried 7 more paintings to Snappy Photo for slides, photos & a cd of the images. So I'll have more to add to my site soon. I have several out of State juried shows that I will be summitting slides to as well as several shows in Florida, both locally and on the other end of the state. I'm dropping off a painting "Red Light District" at ADSO (Arts & Design Society) "Figuratively Speaking" Members Show, tomorrow. I will be updating my Bio page with more details of the up coming shows. And my events page of up coming events that I'm participating in.

I was also summons to donate a piece of artwork for an up and coming benefit for the "Second Annual Bob Hope Memorial Charity Golf Classic" being held in Destin, Florida on May 22-23, 2005. So I called the organizer of the event and confirmed that I would be giving a Giclee Print of their choosing from my site.

I've been working on my Fantasy painting for the Imago Gallery show "Garden of Good and Evil". It's been a real challenge to find a finish to the piece and as the time of the show is fast approaching. I will prevail and the completion is near, I will be working on it again tonight.

Last night we had another Family Art Night, my wife and daughter at the pallets of creativity on a space painting. I had them use their own ideas with just a few technics of splattering in the stars and in creating the illusion of a black hole....well they weren't black holes after we got done with them LOL.

I contacted a gallery in south Walton County near Seaside, Fl. about placement of my originals and my Giclee prints in the gallery. I will be visiting them this coming week, and hopefully will be hanging in a very high profile location in N.W. Florida's prime vacation locations. I will keep you posted on this.

Well that's been the happenings for the past week, this week will be better yet!

Brad Greek
http://www.artbybradgreek.com

Thrive in '05

Ron Kensey of The Artist Printshop in Sheridan, WY. has put together this project to assist artists get to that next level in their careers. With marketing tips and brainstorming as a group, to produce, pre-sell and go to Giclee reproduction print with your work. This will be an experience like no other and the rewards will be above those that we achieve alone. Having a support group to give you instant feedback and suggestions along with a system of marketing to get your work out in front of the potential buyers. So check this out, join or just keep checking in on the progress that we are achieving.

It's great to have supportive friends in this business that will tell you like it is and to help you grow as a marketing artist.

Well it's been over a week since my last post, so I'll give you a run down on the progress of the week. First of all the Beaux Art Exhibition was a very artistic show with works in all mediums and styles. Several of my friends won an award and even a plein-air painting took a ribbon. I seen several pieces sell and I met some great artists that I've heard of, and now I have had the honor to meet. I took a friend with me to his first art show ever. He is a tatoo artist that is wanting to enter into the fine art world. He jumped right in their and met with everyone and I think he was really impressed with how the whole process worked and just how friendly artists are. I picked up my paintings after the reception on Sunday the 6th.

My plein-air group had gotten rained out last Wednesday, but we were able to dodge the drops yesterday as we set up at the Indian Temple Mound again. The curator of the museum came out and took pictures of us and made up a brochure of us, while we were still there, and posted it up inside the museum. Also several schools were having field trips through the museum, so they seen more then they bargained for. "Oh Wow, Artists!" they yelled as they came running over to see our paintings. I think we got them in trouble for getting out of line. LOL It's all in the name of art!! "Teachers, leave those kids alone!"--Pink Floyd. LOL

Any ways, I have another Indian Temple Mound painting that I still have to put some finishing touches to.

I had a house full of people all weekend, so there wasn't any painting going on. Not to mention I had alot to do with my hobby as a maintenance/ property manager. LOL

I ordered alot of paints and display folders from Dick Blick's yesterday, They are having an awesome sale right now.

Ron Kensey sent me a strongbox to ship him a painting to try out his new mural wall hanging equipment out with. I sent him a 20x16 plein-air painting of the Gulf of Mexico's beauty. I titled the painting "The Shining", because I was capturing the shine on the water from the late morning sun had casted. I believe it will look great at a larger size, so that's why I chose it.
I shipped the painting out to him yesterday, this is going to be exciting to see!

I worked on my website last night and added another Gallery to my home page. It is for my plein-air paintings. I only had 5 to post in the gallery at this time, but it will grow much larger, fast. So go check that out if you like, yet another style of painting that I do. I truely love the plein-air experience........I'm hooked!! LOL

Well that's about all I have for now so I'll sign off with another thought to ponder.
"Do we artists really see things differently then others?"
Brad

46th Annual Beaux Arts Exhibition

Hello everyone,

Well it's been a couple days from my last post, so I thought I would catch you all up on what I've been doing. On Monday I put the final touches on my plein-air painting of the "Indian Temple Mound". I decided to enter it into this competition so today I got it framed and ready to go. I'm also entering my plein-air painting "Secluded Paradise" that I completed the week before last. As my third entry I decided to go with my surrealistic wildlife painting"I Don't Think So!". Tommorrow will be the delivery date, with the 4th,5th and 6th will be the show. So wish me luck, LOL.

I picked up 5 plein-air paintings that I had slides, photos and digital images made, from Snappy Photo in Ft. Walton Beach. This is my first step in the process I go through with each finished painting. Then it's off to the print shop for scanning the painting for the Giclee reproduction print process. Then to the framer to get the piece framed. Now it is show ready and if the original sells at the show I'm ready to sell. I'm explaining this to you so that you will know that when you see a piece of artwork hanging in a show or gallery, that that painting has been through a regiment of processes before you ever get to view it. All of this can take weeks to complete with alot of time and money invested in the process. I just wanted to share this with you.

I picked up my painting "Path to Temptations" from the ADSO Art Challenge show on Sunday and dropped it back off at the printshop. They were in the color balancing stage of the process when I had to get it to the framer and to the show a few weeks ago. So they are finishing that up and a print will be ready for my marketing portfolio.

Our plein-air gathering got canceled today due to heavy winds and rain. So I'll have to venture out on my own later this week to get a subject on canvas. I have set a goal to do one plein-air a week. So far so good for the year.

Last night I got started back on a fantacy painting that I have been working on. Trying to finish it up so that I can get busy working on a new project for print releases. I have signed on to participate with a group of artists and a Giclee printmaker/ Gallery owner Ron Kensey( ArtistPrintshop's "Thrive in '05" project) to work together on how to market and when to market your print releases. It should be very informative and supportive for us artists that have taken our art to the print market. I'm fired up about this and have already designed the layout for the new releases for the next 2-3 years. So I'm ready to get that started.

Well that's about it for now so I'll have to sign off with a thought:
Positive attitude with positive action= success
Positive attitude with negative action= mediocracy
Negative attitude with positive action= mediocracy
Negative attitude with negative action= failure.

Brad Greek

Indian Temple Mound Plein-air painting

Well today was action packed with art events. It was a good day!

It all started when I was enroute to paint at the Indian Temple Mound Museum in Ft. Walton Beach, Fl. I stopped by my P.O. Box and there was an order for one of my prints (Wrath of Spooky). The order came from one of our troops stationed in Korea. So this was exciting, seeing the internet work it's magic of getting our artwork out to the world.

I spent the rest of the morning on location, painting an inspiring scene of the mound and it's structure. I use acrylics and usually a 16" x 20" canvas. There were about 7 of us out painting today. I had to stop short of completing my piece to attend a luncheon with the Arts and Design Society's (ADSO), which I am a member of.

There was a very entertaining guest speaker there today. Showing us her style of art of making collages. She was a real comedian. I had a friend meet me there that I hadn't seen in awhile and we talked about marketing and art in general. I brought along my plein-air paintings for him to see. We talked for over an hour in the parking lot of the country club where the luncheon was held.

I then dropped off 5 of the paintings at Snappy Photo to have slides, photos and a cd made of the digital files. Then off to the printshop, Color Reprodutions in Mary Esther, Fl., to drop off a painting (Path to Temptations) that I had scanned for Giclee prints a couple weeks ago. Which I had to retrieve to get framed and hang in a juried show. I had to let them finish color matching the image to the printer. This one really worked them over good.

Then I went to Creative Awards next door to Color Reproductions to talk to Bill Gailey about framing up my print of Life's Journey to hang in Color Reproduction. They are allowing me to hang several of my prints they made in their shop, so I figured it would also be good advertising for Bill's framing. Bill also is a collector of my prints and can put an image on anything.

Then it was back home to unload paintings and my plein-air equipment. I worked on my website and posted in here.

Last night I finished up my plein-air painting from last week (Secluded Paradise). Tomorrow I'll be sending off the print to Korea, too kewl. Well it's been a long day of great accomplishments and I'm off to do some paperwork, I might even get a paint brush wet.

Brad
http:www.artbybradgreek.com

New Releases

Hello fellow bloggers and art enthusiast.

I am going to start out my Blog by telling you of my newest Giclee reproduction print releases.
I have released 3 new prints to the market with a 30% discount for a limited time. They are signed and numbered, limited editions of 75.

The first image is from my painting titled "Life's Journey", an acrylic on canvas. It just received and honorable mention ribbon in a themed juried art exhibit "Boxed In" at the Imago Gallery in Pensacola, Fl. Where it will be exhibited until March 11, 2005.

The second image is from my painting titled "The Path to Temptations", an acrylic on canvas. It is one in a series of paintings that I'm creating of my past experiences as an active alcoholic. Since been sober for over 13 years, this series has to come out. This painting was just shown at the Arts and Design Society's (Ft. Walton Beach, Fl.) art challenge juried show that ended today.

The third image is from my painting titled" Red Light District", an acrylic on canvas. This painting was for a themed juried show (Le Moulin Erotique D'art", at the Imago Gallery that ended on the 19th of Jan. 2005. It is a depiction of Paris around the turn of the 20th century in the Red Light district of the city.

I hope that you enjoy what I've been creating, and keep checking in because I'm always posting something new and exciting to look at.

Brad

Standing in front of a work in progress "Paradise Retreat"
